Yesterday, President E. Gordon Gee, Mayor Michael B. Coleman, Dr. Steven Gabbe, and other community leaders announced a partnership between Columbus and The Ohio State University Medical Center which will help personalize health care and improve the city. ProjectONE, Ohio State’s $1 billion expansion project, will benefit the city of Columbus including the neighborhood around University Hospital East.
In the largest job-generating initiative in Columbus, ProjectONE will create 10,000 full-time jobs, including 6,000 full-time jobs at the Medical Center. The expansion project will also provide the community with $1.7 billion in annual economic impact by 2015 and state of the art health care facilities.
Ohio State announced it will invest $10 million in the neighborhoods around University Hospital East as part of a personalized health initiative that will improve the health and lives of local residents. Ohio State is also forming a partnership with religious leadership in the east neighborhoods and dedicated $1 million of the investment to assist them in promoting health.
